For a stint, I lived in the bustling and wildly diverse cultural tip of Malaysia. A geographic piece of land teeming with Indian hawker stalls, Chinese enclaves, Indonesian rituals, and American banking districts. I spent my days photographing, and more importantly listening to, members of the transgender community who tread courageous terrain and live within what is widely-understood to be the most conservative Asian country.
